Manifestations in Montenegro

Montenegro is a wonderful destination not only for vacation, but also for getting to know the local culture of this small country in the Balkans. However, despite this, it has more than enough space to host all possible events and festivals. Moreover, some of the most famous festivals in Europe are held right here, in one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Europe.

 

Manifestations in January

Hot winter in the hills – A very rich tourist event with exceptional cultural, artistic and entertainment content. The hot winter in the hills and the numerous events that make it up take place in the cities in the north of Montenegro, as well as on the slopes and ski resorts of Durmitor, Bjelasica, Sinjajevina... Numerous guest appearances by music stars, parties in the most popular bars, sports events, various programs, as well as in hotels and outdoors are only part of the rich offer of this manifestation.

Montenegro Winter Cup - is an event held in Žabljak. These are car races in the snow that take place on the slopes of Durmitor.

 

Manifestations in February

The Day of St. Tripun is a manifestation that takes place in Kotor. It is a tradition that dates back to the 9th century. Festivities in honor of the patron saint of the city of St. Tripun begin at the end of January and end in the first days of February. At the location in front of the old Kotor Cathedral of St. Tripun, the Bokelj navy first performs a round, then a mass follows, and a procession through the city. The festivities are accompanied by a review of church choirs, city music, and dances by various folklore groups.

The mimosa festival is an event associated with Herceg Novi. The Mimosa Festival in Montenegro is a celebration of local culture, cuisine and the arrival of spring, marked by community participation, colorful mimosa displays and a range of musical and culinary delights. The Mimosa Festival is held on the first weekend of February every year, primarily in Herceg Novi, with activities also in nearby towns such as Igalo and Baošići. The tradition is over 50 years long, and it started in 1969. Mimosa celebrates the awakening of nature after a long and cruel winter, which paves the way for a colorful and sunny spring. This festival is considered an invigorating sight, especially because of the yellow mimosa flowers that simply evoke the sun and warmth. The festival begins with a parade of marching girls carrying mimosa flowers, accompanied by a brass band. Of course, the parade is not the only part of the festival that can be boasted of a humorous note - a parade of interesting costumes reminiscent of a large outdoor masquerade ball.

                           

 

Traditional Lastovo Carnival - It takes place in Tivat's Donja Lastva. The procession with masks and Carnival traditionally moves from the Seventh Quarter to the mule in Donja Lastva, in front of the Church of St. Rok, the place where he will be sentenced for all the misfortunes of the past year without the right to appeal, i.e. democracy. Every year, the carnival procession includes the town music of Tivat, as well as majorettes from various dance clubs. After the trial and burning of the Lastovo carnival, the festivities continue at the "Kamelija" hotel with a small masquerade ball for children and a masquerade ball for adults, where prizes are awarded for the best masks.

Herzegovinian "Winter Salon" - As part of the Mimosa Festival, creators from Herzegovin and the surrounding area gather in this city to create, exhibit and promote their works of art. Sculptors, actors. llikoni and numerous other cultural artists take part in this event every year, which has a tradition of more than 40 years.

Kotor Carnival is an event held in Kotor. It is a big annual carnival with a series of manifestations - traditional masquerade ball, majorette parade, children's carnival, promotion of local cuisine, carnival concerts, etc. The traditional Kotor carnival festivities are the biggest entertainment event in Montenegro. Kotor Carnival is visited by several thousand people. In addition to carnival troupes from Kotor and other coastal cities of Montenegro, many carnival groups from Europe and the world participate in the Kotor Carnival.

 

Manifestations in March

Camellia Days is an event held in Stolivo, near Kotor. A local manifestation with a rich program dominated by camellia and its arrangement. During the multi-day events, the exhibition of arrangements, the Camellia Ball and the selection of Lady Camelia, as well as a series of concerts, are particularly noteworthy. According to legend, long ago, in 1870. this flower was brought by the old captain of Stoliv from the Far East (Japan) to Boka Kotorska to give it to his wife.

Zlatna pahulja / Zlatna staza - is a festival for our youngest that is organized in Rožaje. It is a music festival that brings together the best authors of music for children and the youngest performers.

The Durmitor Golden Eagle - is a ski competition held on the slopes of Dumitor.

The Wine and Ukleve Festival is one of the most important Crmnik and Bar festivals. The traditional manifestation enables local winegrowers and fishermen to present their products, and visitors to enjoy the tastes of local cuisine, music and socializing. The Wine and Ukleve Festival is an ideal opportunity to taste local specialties, try the famous Crmnica wine, but also to visit Virpazar.

 

Manifestations in April

On the roads of King Nikola - manifestation on the route Bar - Bijelo Polje. Known for passing through a large number of Montenegrin and occasionally Italian cities, this race is one of those that is on the program of the international cycling organization and is traditionally run every year. This is an exceptional event of regional character because it is considered one of the strongest races in the Balkans, and therefore it is visited by all Balkan cyclists. It is driven through the north of Montenegro as well as along the Adriatic coast, and at one point the competitors move to Italy, where they continue the competition in the Puglia area.

Podgorica - Ultra marathon - Sports manifestation in the extremely demanding discipline of 100 km running. It is characterized by a relatively large number of participants, as well as the fact that 100 laps are run around Ljubović Hill in the center of the capital of Montenegro.

The Festival of Young Musicians of Montenegro is an event held in Kotor. It gathers pupils and students of music schools and academies in extremely large numbers. This is the best opportunity to see the enormous artistic potential of a relatively small European country in one place.

 

Manifestations in May

Souvenir Fair of Montenegro - is held in Budva. The annual fair-exhibition of souvenirs with the theme of Montenegro in the Hotel Tara in Bečići near Budva is gladly visited by all tourists in the country. A wide range of beautifully made decorations and items from everyday Montenegrin culture is a real invitation for everyone who wants to take a memory of our country with them.

Budva Carnival - takes place every year from May 1 to 3. The Budva Carnival is a rare festival in Montenegro mostly aimed at children. It is a three-day event filled with colorful costumes, cheerful parades and outdoor theater performances. It is characterized by different competitive sections and activities, which make it always a special experience. This especially applies to children, with special puppet shows and masquerade balls, and other competitions and games that the youngest enjoy. The Budva Carnival is an event that combines traditional Montenegrin culture with modern entertainment, making it a must-see for those who want to experience the uniqueness of Montenegrin festivals.

Kokot shooting is a traditional event when the people of Perašta celebrate a great victory over the Turks, in a somewhat unusual way. Namely, a real cock (rooster) is placed, 300 meters from the shore, on a floating piece of board. And from the shore, only the men who sign up for the competition, shoot the kokot with a rifle. Shooting starts before sunset and can sometimes last for hours, so it happens that it is even postponed until the next day, if it gets dark. Shooting is opened by the members of the Bokeš navy, then the Peraštans get their chance and finally the guests, if the kokot is not hit earlier.

International Book Fair - A new and exceptionally well-attended event held in Podgorica. With the aim of becoming traditional, the Fair gathered dozens of publishers from the Balkan countries in the first year, along with a few who came from as far away as the Middle East.

Youth Day - A manifestation that takes place on May 25 in Tivat, on a date that in the history of the former SFRY was better known as Youth Day - the birthday of Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito. On May 25, a huge number of Yugonostalgics gathered in Tivat. As part of the "Youth Day" celebration program, the former Yugoslav anthem "Hey Slavs" is performed, a parade, a cultural and entertainment program, friendly football matches are played... As in the past, the traditional carrying of the "Youth Relay" is organized through several Montenegrin cities, which eventually arrives in Tivat.

Magnolia Days and "Tourist Flower" - As part of the "Magnolia Days" manifestation, the traditional action "Tourist Flower" organized by the Tivat Tourist Organization is held. The aim of the campaign is to encourage citizens to contribute to the horticultural development of the city, in anticipation of the summer tourist season. The action opens at the beginning of May, and the commission is engaged in the territory of the entire municipality of Tivat until the beginning of June, when the best candidates are chosen. The categories that are selected are: The most beautifully landscaped yard, The most landscaped yard in front of a residential and commercial space, The most beautiful balcony, The most beautiful hedge, The most beautiful magnolia tree, Originality in horticultural landscaping...

 

Manifestations in June

Budva Music Festival – The biggest music festival in the southern Adriatic, the Song of the Mediterranean, as it is also called, is a real tourist hit in the always well-visited Budva. During several evenings, Montenegrin and foreign performers present their compositions to the audience. In the revue part of the festival, the biggest stars of the region, and often stars of the European music scene, perform.

The Underwater Film Festival - is an event that is organized every year in Kotor. It was designed as a festival to promote the wealth of marine flora and fauna in the territory of Montenegro. The underwater film festival takes place during June and gathers filmmakers from all over Europe who glorify the beauty of the underwater world, but also the skills of the divers and cameramen who filmed them.

The International Dance Festival - in Budva is an annual event that gathers dozens of dance schools from the region. Competitions by age and discipline are very popular and well attended.

The Scale Festival - under the slogan "Our sea, our scales" - is held in Herceg Novi and is the main attraction for all tourists from the surrounding countries. Attractive performers, modern music and world-class scenography over 25 meters long and with screens over 200 square meters are just one of the reasons why you should not miss this musical spectacle. Known for the Mediterranean sound that can be heard for several nights from the Kanli Tower in Herzegovina, this festival offers young authors and performers a chance to step into the world of music.

Day of the Bokel Navy - In Kotor, the Day of the Bokel Navy is celebrated every year at the Arms Square. The ceremony is attended by a large number of citizens of Kotor and admirers of the history and tradition of this famous navy. The Kotor Bokel Navy is a memorial organization based in Kotor, which was originally founded as the oldest brotherhood of sailors in the Adriatic and one of the oldest in the world. According to tradition and historical indications, it was founded in 809, when the sailors of Kotor took over the relics of the Christian martyr Tripun and later declared him the patron saint of the city. Over the past centuries, the Bokel navy has gone through many transformations - from humanitarian, to military, to the memorial organization it is today. During all that time, she was guided in all her activities by the motto: FIDES et HONOR – FAITH and HONOR.

                          

 

Zucenica fest - is a gastronomic event held for the purpose of presenting Bokele cuisine. It has been organized for 14 years by the Tivat Women's Organization and Radio Tivat. At this festival of gastronomy and folk creativity, visitors have the opportunity to try imaginative dishes made from the yolk or, as some call it, chicory, an autochthonous coastal wild edible grass. A special jury evaluates and rewards the quality of the food, the best arrangements and decorations, and then one part of the evening is dedicated to an entertainment program in which the majorettes of Tivat, the city music of Tivat, and many other performers participate.

Tivat Cultural Summer - Prugatorie - Tivat Culture Center organizes the most important cultural event - Mediterranean Theater Festival. Prugatories are held in the summer period (from mid-June to the end of August). The Tivat cultural summer has been particularly interesting in recent years, because during the duration of this festival, visitors, including a large number of local and foreign guests, can see very good theater plays and performances, most of which were produced by the Tivat Culture Center. The largest number of performances take place on the Tivat summer stage. The content of the Prugatorija event is full of guest appearances by various and very high-quality domestic and foreign stage troupes, plays, literary evenings, art exhibitions, etc. Tourists who paint in Tivat, thanks to the rich contents of Prugatori, always leave our country full of impressions and are happy to return to it again.

 

Manifestations in July

Festival of drama amateurs of Montenegro - is held in Bijelo Polje. The Festival of Dramatic Amateurs of Montenegro was founded back in 1970. During the 7 days of the festival, several thousand citizens of Bijelo Polje and surrounding towns watch the festival program. In addition to the theater performances during the festival, after each performance, discussions about the play are held, where theater experts (directors, actors, screenwriters) give their critical review of the play. In addition to theater, the festival is accompanied by other cultural events. Thus, within the festival days, art exhibitions, music concerts and the like are organized. At the very end of the Festival, a performance is organized in honor of the festival awardees. The two best performances at the festival participate in similar festivals in the surrounding area.

The Bar Chronicle - is the most important cultural manifestation in Bar in general. The Bar Chronicle is a festival of various contents that includes: theater performances, theater troupes from the country and abroad, art exhibitions, literary evenings, concerts of spiritual and classical music... The "Bar Chronicle" programs are held on various mostly assembled stages at several locations in the city. One of the most interesting events within the Bar Chronicle is the Mediterranean Book Fair.

Days of Music International Festival of Classical Music - was founded in Herceg Novi and established itself among Herceg Novi festivals in the term 10-20. July. The patrons of the Music Day are the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro and the Municipality of Herceg Novi. The Days of Music festival has a dynamic that corresponds to the concept of a summer festival in accordance with the needs of the audience, following the trends in world classical festivals and significant anniversaries and jubilees. Artists from all continents perform on Herzegovinian stages, confirming that music is a universal language and that Art really makes the world a better place.

International Children's Theater Festival - It was founded in 1993 and is always held in the first 12 days of July in Kotor, a UNESCO heritage city, and in Boka, one of the 30 most beautiful bays in the world. Various programs are organized, ninety percent of which are free, and the rest have a symbolic entrance fee. The festival is rich in many performances, films, exhibitions, concerts, dances, books, art installations and workshops. The festival is primarily dedicated to the inclusion of children and youth from socially vulnerable groups, volunteerism, interculturality, engagement and activism.

Don Branko's days - Don Branko Sbutega was a Kotor Catholic priest, pastor of the church in Dobrota. In memory of this great benefactor from Kotor, the Don Branko Days of Music are held every year, which always begin on Montenegro's statehood day, July 13, and last for a month. During Don Branko's days, performances and concerts of classical music are held in Kotor's squares. Guests from abroad and Montenegro enjoy beautiful performances where Kotor presents itself as a real capital of culture. The largest number of concerts are held on the plateau in front of the Cathedral of St. Tripuna. The goal of this event is to never forget the work and life of Don Branko Sbutega, as well as to enliven Kotor's streets, squares and squares. As part of Don Branko's days of music in Kotor, in front of the Cathedral of St. Tripuna plays Fashion and Art Show, which lasts for two nights.

Fashinada - is a unique traditional celebration that takes place on July 22 every year in Perast. It is the custom of piling stones around the island of Gospa od Škrpjela, in order to preserve the statics of this artificial island. Residents of the settlements around the bay bring stones to this artificial island in boats and then throw them around the shore. Only men participate in the ceremony, accompanied by folk songs. This tradition has been maintained since the creation of the island, which is more than 500 years. What makes it unique is that the custom has never been interrupted, neither during wars nor after earthquakes. This event, that is, the festival, is attended by Bokelji and tourists, because Fashinada is a cultural and touristic event. In 2013, this custom was included in the intangible cultural heritage.

Days of Mrkojević - is a manifestation of an entertaining nature that takes place in Bar on the last week of July. The aim of the event is to introduce numerous visitors and tourists to the tradition, rich heritage and cultural identity of the Bar region. In addition to rich service and dishes of traditional Montenegrin cuisine, the "Days of Mrkojević" event is characterized by an entertainment and musical program, in which cultural and artistic societies from Bar participate.

Kotor summer festivals - last throughout July. For lovers of beautiful sound, classical and spiritual, chamber and instrumental music, the most interesting is the music festival KOTOR PRO ARTE. This event is marked by concerts that are mostly held in Kotor churches and concert halls. Fans of culture are able to listen to many concerts of great world music creators. The concert halls in Kotor, in those days, were filled with the sounds of music that was once performed in European courts.

The International Fashion Festival - in Kotor has become more and more recognizable in recent years. The fashion festival lasts several days and gathers fashion designers from Montenegro, the surrounding area and abroad. However, the most represented are the renowned Italian creators and their latest creations. The fashion show in Kotor has been going on for several years, and so far, among others, Dolce Gabanna, Pal Zilleri, Prada, Armani, Ferre, Versace... In addition to fans of contemporary fashion trends and beautiful clothing, in those days Kotor is also central place of businessmen, actors, owners of fashion houses and other personalities from the world of the jet set.

Ulcinj night is fun - a tourist event whose goal is to promote the tourist offer of Ulcinj and its surroundings. It consists of a series of concerts in the Old Town and on the beaches, as well as different ways of entertaining visitors while tasting local cuisine.

Summer Stage - is a manifestation that takes place during July and August on the summer stage in the Old Town of Ulcinj. It lasts for a month, and its goal is to promote the cultural and historical values ​​of Ulcinj. The summer scene includes the performance of various theater performances, the hosting of musical groups, the holding of exhibitions...

The Bocce Olympiad - is a very interesting traditional sports event held in Tivat. It is specific and interesting because of the old folk rules of the game, so it is also a tourist attraction. At the Tivat Bocce Olympiad, in addition to competitors from Tivat, competitors from a large number of other cities in Montenegro, as well as from abroad, take part. Bocce is a traditional sport in coastal cities that is growing in popularity as the oldest event held in this city.

Cetinje Cultural Summer - Folk performances, concerts, author's evenings, art exhibitions and other similar cultural events make up the program of the Cetinje Cultural Summer. It starts in mid-July and lasts for a month. All manifestations take place on the stages of the Summer Stage, on the Balšića market and on the grounds of the Cetinje city park. In addition to theatrical performances, Montenegrin productions, the audience can also see the works of famous European and authors from the former Yugoslav republics. Also, famous operas and chamber music concerts are performed for the visitors of the event.

International Folklore Festival - The Folklore Festival has been held in Cetinje since 2000, and it took on an international character in 2004, when it was organized under the auspices of the World Organization of Folklore Festivals and Traditional Arts CIOFF. The aim of the event is cultural education, but also the encouragement of the development of creativity in folklore, music-choir, drama and other arts. Folk performances are excellent and well attended, so we highly recommend them on your way to get to know Montenegro.

                             

 

Mountain car races - Ivanova Korita - is a manifestation known as the championship for mountain car races on the track Cetinje - Ivanova Korita (Lovćen), 12,200 m long with a height difference of 610 meters. Since 1981, this race has been included in the calendar of the International Automobile Federation - FIA. This championship for the mountain car race Cetinje - Ivanova korita (Lovćen) is the only one that is scored according to the new system that was determined by the introduction of the European zonal championship in 1995. At the aforementioned championship, the race was given a new name - FIA mountain challenge. Especially during the one-day summer car race, the entire race track and all well-viewed places on the Cetinje - Ivano Korita road section are full of fast driving enthusiasts, car fans and other observers, who are impatiently waiting for the outcome of the race, cheering on the competitors.

Katun sports games - Njeguši - event held at the end of July in the village of Njeguši, near Cetinje. Then a large number of citizens, former residents of Njeguš and their descendants, gather in the mentioned village to measure their strength in the old disciplines, by which courage, dexterity, chivalry were once measured and through which the competitive spirit was developed. In those days, traditional old games such as long jump, tug of war, high jump, shoulder throwing, horse riding are popular.

 

Manifestations in August

Ratković's evenings of poetry - is the largest Montenegrin poetry festival held every year in Bijelo Polje. It bears the name of one of the most outstanding Montenegrin poets of the 20th century, Rist Ratković. Ratković's poetry evenings were among the first to open a space for poets and artists from the entire former Yugoslavia. The "Risto Ratković" award is given for the best book of poetry for the territory of Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is especially important to note that just participating in this unique review serves as a springboard in the literary creation of many young poets of this region.

                              

 

International Festival of Tambura Orchestras - This Festival inherits and affirms the traditional folk music of the population of Montenegro and its surroundings. This manifestation contributes to the establishment and development of friendly and economic ties, the affirmation and presentation of the cultural heritage of the north of Montenegro, as well as the valorization and presentation of the tourist potential of this region. Every year, eighteen to twenty tambura orchestras from eight to ten countries perform at the Festival, with the participation of over 200 tambura masters. At the Festival, in addition to tambura orchestras, citizens have the opportunity to hear renowned soloists from the country and the surrounding area.

                               

 

International art meetings "Lazovici Painters" - an event that is organized every year in the village of Bistrica near Bijelo Polje. The event was started with the aim of promoting painting in Bijelo Polje, but also to preserve the very rich painting tradition that Bijelo Polje has, represented through the painting skills of the famous painting family Lazović from the end of the 18th to the middle of the 19th century. Every year, a large number of painters from Montenegro and the region participate.

Lake fest - is a rock music festival that takes place every year in Nikšić, on Lake Krupac. It brings together very important names of the Montenegrin and regional scene. Every year, apart from the musical part, attention is paid to the camp, which without a doubt bears the epithet of the biggest festival camp in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. The ecological orientation of the event is well known, and a lot of time and funds are dedicated to its programs, so Lake Fest is rightly recognized as the first green festival in Montenegro and recognized as such in the region. This festival connects the central, southern, and northern parts of Montenegro and gives visitors the opportunity to not only enjoy the spectacle of Mužice, but also to experience Montenegro in the most beautiful way possible.

Festival of Street Musicians - is a festival that takes place every year in Nikšić. During the duration of the festival, visitors enjoy the different spots of performers who come from all over the world. Jugglers, stilt walkers, one-man-bands, performers with fire, clowns, musicians, dancers are just some of the rich program of this festival, which is held at several locations in the city. Performances by artists from different parts of the world also provide an opportunity for education about other cultures and forms of entertainment through music, fire shows, dance, plays and circus acrobatics.

Entrance - electronic music festival - This electronic music festival takes place during August in the town of Rose, opposite Herceg Novy. In a vivid environment where stone and water meet, fans of electronic sound have the opportunity to listen to the mastery of famous European DJs.

International summer carnival - Similar to the winter carnival, the summer carnival is intended for fun and celebration on the streets and squares of Kotor. Unlike the winter carnival, which is somewhat smaller in scope, the summer carnival is of an international character and gathers domestic as well as numerous carnival groups from abroad. The carnival procession passes along the main road, across the Kotorska Riva, where visitors greet them. The "carnival trial" is held in the main city square, where a large mascot is placed and "judged" from the big stage for all the bad things that happened in the previous year in Kotor. After the trial, that mascot is burned by the sea and thus all the bad things went with it. During the carnival days, it is possible to buy various masks and disguises at the main Kotor market, everyone who wants to be part of the carnival is welcome.

                              

 

Bokeska night is an event that takes place in the last week of August in Kotor. Even though the season is not over yet, with this event, the people of Kotor and Boka Kotorska say goodbye to the summer. The boke night is a manifestation on the water, a masquerade of boats on the water. In the water area of ​​the Bay of Kotor, decorated boats sail as many as three laps, after which an expert judge awards them with money, first, second and third prizes. After the announcement of the winning masked boat, visitors enjoy a fifteen-minute fireworks display. And the party continues in the old town, where various music bands perform in every Kotor square.

                              

 

Lastovo festivities - The event is traditionally organized in the town of Gornja Lastva, near Tivat. The organizers of the event are the cultural-tourism and native society "Napredak" and the Tivat Culture Center. On the first Saturday of August, the main festival of "Lastovo Festivals" takes place. The festival consists of: cultural and artistic programs, the circuit of the "Bokel Navy" with the accompaniment of the Music and Educational Society "Tivat". Numerous domestic and foreign guests as well as citizens of Tivat, who visit the mentioned event, enjoy listening to original Lastovo songs, as well as traditional dances known as the Lastovo and Skaljar folk dance. The "Evenings at the Mill", dedicated to klapa songs (a traditional way of singing that is represented in Boka and Dalmatia), is a very interesting event.

Cetinje Biennale – A very important artistic manifestation, both for Cetinje and for Montenegro. In 1990, an international exhibition of artists was organized in Cetinje for the first time under the name "Cetinj Biennale". The event grew into the International Biennale of Contemporary Fine Art. This prestigious manifestation is held in Cetinje every other year. Artists, creators, and critics from all over the world gather in Cetinje to enjoy the beauty of this city, present their works, and often organize various painting and art workshops themselves, where new works are created. Exhibitions of prominent Yugoslav and European creators of fine and related arts were presented at the Biennale, and artistic performances are a special novelty.

Herceg Novi Film Festival - Montenegro Film Festival is the most important film festival in Montenegro, which has been going on for more than three decades. The international program of the festival consists of competitive selections: feature films, student films and the selection of the Festival Network of the Adriatic Region. The out-of-competition program of Kino Evropa includes the works of established European authors. The main goal of the festival is to promote regional and world cinematography, especially opening a space for authors and films that nurture an authentic artistic sensibility, a bold approach to social reality, film language and production, with an emphasis on presenting a cross-section of contemporary poetics and expressions.

International klapa festival - A musical celebration at the end of August, which includes a meeting of competitors in klapa singing. This ceremony is held in Perast, near Kotor. Klap singing is a special type of musical expression, i.e. singing, specific to the areas of the Southern Adriatic. Klapa from Montenegro are joined by klapa from Croatia in traditional folk singing.

Fisherman's Night - This tourist event is organized on the Ulcinj beach. It takes place in August and gathers thousands of visitors not only from Ulcinj, but also from the surrounding towns. During the evening, fish and wine are served, and a rich cultural and artistic program with performances by folklore and well-known musical groups is responsible for the atmosphere. The party lasts until the early hours of the morning.

Petrovac Jazz Festival - is an annual music festival held in Petrovac and Budva in Montenegro. It was founded in 2007 as a need for cultural changes in society and the process of transformation of the cultural policy of Montenegro. From 2007 until today, 10 festival editions of free musical forms of jazz have been organized, and this year will be followed by 11. Until now, the number of musicians who participated in the Festival was about 800 (90 bands) from more than 22 countries such as the USA, Italy, Germany, Austria, France, Denmark, Netherlands, Israel, Great Britain, Iceland, Norway, Ukraine, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Japan, Poland, etc.

Petrovac night - is considered one of the most beautiful traditional manifestations in Montenegro and its quality attracts a large number of visitors - both domestic and foreign. Petrovac, or better known as Petrovac na moru, is a small coastal town on the Montenegrin coast, which is best known for its 600-meter long, beautiful sandy beach. In fact, compared to the more lively towns of Budva and Sutomore, Petrovac is a quieter tourist resort ideal for a family holiday. The event Petrovačka is usually organized at the end of August, and the main goal is to introduce visitors to Montenegrin Mediterranean culture, customs, food, music and authentic products, of course with lots of songs, dances and sports competitions. As such, Petrovac Night represents one of the most significant cultural events in the peak tourist season. Petrovac night is also one of the manifestations with the longest tradition, also known as the festival of fish, wine and music - which are free for visitors.


Manifestations in September

Blues&Rock festival - is a festival that takes place on the big and small stage of the summer stage in the Old Town of Nikšić, on Bedem. The Blues & Rock festival has a clear vision, recognizable concept and line-up. The genre is very broad, so different profiles of musicians, performers, bands can be heard at the festival... One of the missions of the festival is also the affirmation of young demo bands. The festival offers its visitors, performers and partners unforgettable memories that are remembered and retold for a long time.

September Days of Culture - is a manifestation dedicated to the city of Nikšić. Throughout the month, various programs are organized to present citizens and visitors with the potential and creativity in culture, sports, art, economy, tourism...

Infofest - Festival of IT achievements - INFOFEST is the most important ICT event in the region. It takes place in Budva. The program features leading global and regional ICT companies, renowned international experts, authors of the best professional papers, key users of IC technologies...

Adriatic Parachuting Cup - Hercegnov's increasingly popular parachuting competition began its life just a few years ago and already attracts a large number of admirers of this extreme sport.

The International Klapa Festival - a festival of klapa songs that takes place every year in Perast. It is the only festival of this music genre in Montenegro. The goal and idea of ​​the festival is to promote and preserve the tradition of singing a capella as part of the musical heritage of Montenegro. Old-time klapa singing in Boka continues the musical tradition of specific unison singing, which finds its oldest roots in Pera Bulgarian songs, in ritual prayer songs, in customary tributes and carol songs.

Mojkovac Film Autumn - Located in the exciting atmosphere of the mountainous region of Montenegro, the "Mojkovac Film Autumn" festival was founded in 1976. In the past years, it established the profile of the festival whose main awards are intended for actors in the categories of main and episodic roles. The festival is traditionally held in the last week of September.

 

Manifestations in October

The days of shirun - is an event that is traditionally held on the first weekend in October because širun, the blue fish in the Adriatic, appears in abundance at this time of the year, so the fishermen and the locals decided to enjoy together with the guests with delicious fish, wine, beer, ruskula... rich cultural and entertainment program. The City Music of Budva, soloists and clappers often take part in the program. A children's program and sports games will be organized as part of the event. By the way, the folk festival of wine and fish is organized by the Tourist Organization of Budva, the Municipality of Budva and the Sports Fishing Club "Širun".

The International Television Festival - is a festival that takes place every year in Bar at the end of October. It is a review of television productions that is visited by almost all major television companies from the region. With its intersection of televisions such as RAI, BBC, ZDF, FR3 and many others, they testify to the quality of the festival where the Grand Prix is ​​awarded, as well as awards by category. Every year, the most interesting one is in the domain of documentary and environmental films.

Niksic guitar festival - is a festival that takes place every year in the Nikšić Theater. The festival was founded in 2005 by prominent Montenegrin guitarists and pedagogues Goran Perišić and Danijel Cerović, as part of the activities of the NGO "Society of Guitarists Anagastum", with the aim of affirming the highest artistic standards in guitar performance. During the past 14 editions of the festival, guests of the city of Nikšić were exceptional artists, professors at universities and music academies from the USA, France, Spain, South Africa, Japan, then Germany, Italy, Russia, Norway, Great Britain...

Podgorica Marathon – The largest traditional sports event in Podgorica. The international-type race with the track Podgorica - Danilovgrad includes a number of disciplines: marathon, half-marathon, 5 km city race... It is also popular because of the large number of amateurs who participate in it.

 

Manifestations in November

Meetings under the old olive tree - is an international festival of children's creativity and creativity for children and has traditionally been held since 1986, and is dedicated to children's literary and artistic creativity and creativity for children. Every two years, a large number of participants gather at Mirovica near Bar. According to the program concept, the event is of a competitive nature, so expert juries, formed for each program segment, select and award the best children's works, while the selected writer - laureate, is awarded the "STARA MASLINA" award, for contribution to the overall creativity for children and young people. The olive grove, which was created as a result of the tradition that every laureate of this Festival plants an olive tree, will be enriched with another young tree. This unusual combination of tradition, beautiful art, a message of peace and the Mediterranean spirit, which contains a poetry park, is the right place for holding literary evenings and other thematic performances.

Maslinijada - is a traditional manifestation that takes place as part of the celebration of the Liberation Day of Bar. The event is significant because visitors and tourists can enjoy seeing and tasting olives, Bar olive oil, citrus fruits, tangerines, oranges and other products typical of the coastal region, and especially for the area that includes the municipality of Bar. In addition to the cultural and entertainment program, the Masliniad is complemented by an exhibition of traditional folk costumes that are characteristic of Bar and its surroundings.

                              

 

Manifestations in December

The International Festival of Actors - is a theatrical manifestation organized by the "Nikšićko Pozorište", according to its program concept, it is basically dedicated to acting and the actor as "the basics of dramatic art and theater in general". The "International Festival of Actors", which has been organized sixteen times in Nikšić under that name, was founded on that theoretical but also practical postulate, which puts "His Highness" the actor on a pedestal.

The New Year's Fair of local products - is an event that brings together an increasing number of food and beverage producers, as well as producers of handicrafts, arts and souvenirs, every year. Traditional and autochthonous products are promoted, not only from the area of ​​Nikšić, but also from the whole of Montenegro, as well as from the countries of the region. The fair is held in the sports hall on an area of ​​1,500 m2, where a rich cultural and artistic program is provided, performances by numerous folklore groups, as well as a program for the youngest visitors. Over 250 exhibitors exhibit their products at the Fair, and over 20,000 visitors visit the New Year's Fair of local products during the three days of the event.

December Days of Culture - is one of the most important cultural events in the capital of Montenegro. During a few weeks, numerous promotions, art exhibitions, concerts and drama performances are organized.

DEUS - December art scene - A series of cultural events with a large number of visitors. It mainly includes theatrical and musical spectacles put on by artists from Montenegro and neighboring countries.

New Year's Eve - At the end of each year, a festive New Year's Eve is organized in the town squares under the direction of municipal tourist organizations. Budva and Kotor, in particular, have a long tradition of such festivities, where a top-notch party is guaranteed with the stars of local and foreign entertainment. Festivities begin on December 31st and end on January 2nd.
