Montenegro is located in the very south of the great blue of the Adriatic Sea, in the heart of the Balkan mountains. This beauty of wild nature is showered with superlatives that everyone would like. In a small area, gathered: the sea with beautiful beaches, rivers with unique canyons, clear lakes and gigantic mountains. Such beauty is breathtaking and at the first meeting every traveler remains forever in love with Montenegro.
The turbulent history of this small country has left behind an invaluable treasure, which is reflected in historical monuments throughout this proud country. The blue sea with endless beaches, restless waters of clear rivers and beautiful mountain massifs, mixed with the spirits of the past, breathed into Montenegro everything it needs for an unforgettable vacation.
Montenegrin cities interwoven with the architecture of various periods are breathtaking and for a moment go back to the time when they were created. With their manifestations, which are in abundance, they give tourists the opportunity to get acquainted with the traditions and customs of Montenegro, but also the entire Balkans.
As places with the greatest historical, but also natural riches and beauties, the Bay of Kotor and the places that are located in it and Sveti Stefan and its surroundings stand out, as well as the now very popular and modern Budva.
The Bay of Kotor is one of the most beautiful bays in the world. It consists of four interconnected straits. On all sides, the Bay of Kotor is surrounded by steep and vertical rocks that are reflected in the blue-blue water of the Adriatic Sea. The Bay of Kotor is adorned with seven islands: Sv. Marko, Mamula, Our Lady of Skrpjela, Sv. George, Mercy, the Island of Flowers and Our Lady, which is also the smallest island among them.
On the road around the Bay of Kotor, there are a number of cities, which can tell a lot with their peculiarity. Among them is Kotor, a World Heritage city and one of the most beautiful places in Montenegro.
The guardian of tradition and the pride of Montenegro - Lovcen, combines the restless spirit of the sea and the wise continental part and thus maintains the age-old balance.
In the very south of Montenegro, forever in love with each other, the river Bojana and the Adriatic Sea have created one of the most beautiful beaches on the Montenegrin coast - Velika plaza in Ulcinj. Its length is 13 km and is characterized by fine and healing sand.
Meeting in Kotor, around noon. Accommodation will be in a small hotel with 4 stars, near the Old town of Kotor. In the afternoon, around 6pm we will go on city tour with a guide. The old Mediterranean port of Kotor is surrounded by fortifications built during the Venetian period. It is located on the Bay of Kotor, one of the most indented parts of the Adriatic Sea. Some have called it the southernmost fjord in Europe, but it is a ria, a submerged river canyon. Tour will last app one hour. After that we will go to a small, local and old restaurant in the streets of Old town. Overnight.
After breakfast we will go on a visit to a famous Our Lady of the Rocks church on the artificial island that we can’t imagine now being without! It is the trade mark of Perast! Visit to a church, and medieval town Perast. After the visit we will head to an amazing sightseeing point-restaurant of a whole Kotor bay. We will drive over scary serpentines made in 19th century. Lunch with a breathtaking view. Overnight .
Check out from the hotel and after breakfast we will head to Budva. Budva is the biggest town at our seaside and stands for city with best night life. You can enjoy in relaxing walk on the promenade, take a taxi boat to some of the surrounding islands –beaches, or just enjoy sunbathing at one of the 17 beaches.
After breakfast, we will have one hour transfer to Cetinje – the former capital of Montenegro. Cetinje is also called – Town museum. You will understand that when you get into this small town core – it looks as the time has stopped there, all the buildings are old and have a museum inside – King Nicola’s castle, Ethno museum, Njegos’s billiard house, amazing Austro-Hungarian military map that reveals numerous mountains Montenegro has, etc. After the visit, we will go to the mountain Lovcen and the beautiful Mausoleum of Njegos – the highest mausoleum in the world! The view on Kotor bay, whole Montenegro, and even Albania and Italy sometimes, will take your breath away. After the visit, we will enjoy late lunch in a private household – local food, prepared from the ingredients from the yard. You can try yourself in one of the numerous household jobs. After lunch, transfer back to Budva.
After breakfast, around 45 min transfer to small, fisherman’s town called Virpazar for a cruising tour on the biggest lake in Balkans – Skadarsko lake. We will visit some of the most important places that were at their peak some 150-200 years ago. Most of them are now in ruins, but still hold their importance. We will have a lunch – fresh fish from the lake in one of the really small local restaurants. Transfer back to Budva. Free time.
After the breakfast one hour and 15 min transfer to Ulcinj, small town on a border with Albania. Ulcinj has the longest beach in Montenegro – 12km of powder sand. Water is very shallow for almost 200m and river Bojana that floats out of Skadarsko lake enters the sea there. Miguel de Servantes was imprisoned in Ulcinj for period of time and the story is he got his inspiration for Don Kihote while being there. This day is optional. Barbeque in the pine forest on the beach for lunch. Transfer back to hotel in Budva.
