Mojkovac is a town and the center of the Mojkovac Municipality in Montenegro, settled in the valley of the Tara River, in the foothills of the Bjelasica and Sinjavina Mountains, and it belongs to the Brda (Highlands) of the northeastern part of the Republic of Montenegro, between two National Parks: Biogradska Gora and Durmitor.
Our town was founded during the reign of Uroš I Nemanjić, 1242-1276. Silver coins minted during this period in Brskovo are very well known, so this place became the center of the Mojkovac parish: a mining and trade center with a caravan station between Kotor and Novo Brdo, as well as the consulate of the Republic of Ragusa (Republic of Dubrovnik).
It is said that the name “Mojkovac” was created by merging the well known words “my minted coins” (“Moj kovani novac), uttered by King Uros I during the minting of coins in the Brskovo mine. There are other interpretations about the origin of this name, such as the one that the word Mojkovac is derived from the personal name Mojko, or a last name - Mojković. The locality itself, where today's city core of Mojkovac would be developed, used to be called Pozar.
In the middle of the 20th century, Mojkovac was one of the most important industrial centers of Montenegro. Today, due to the great natural potential that Mojkovac possesses, agriculture and tourism are recognized as new priority branches for the development of the municipality. The Tara River runs through Mojkovac, whose canyon is the second deepest in the world, and is protected by UNESCO.
From the aspect of natural potentials and values, the area of the municipality of Mojkovac represents a specific area, bearing in mind that the territory of its municipality includes the Biogradska gora National Park, the Durmitor National Park, as well as the catchment area of the Tara River, an internationally protected nature area, placed under the protection of UNESCO 1977 (within the program "M&B" - "Man and the Biosphere"). On the territory of the municipality of Mojkovac, one nature reserve is also registered, namely the site Crna poda (area 80 ha, within the "Durmitor" National Park), as a black pine reserve, at the beginning of the canyon valley of the Tara River, near the settlement of Bistrica.

Bijelo Polje is located in a valley crossed by the mountain river Lim. Once upon a time, it was truly a field, covered in spring with white daisies, a flower that gave both the field and the settlement there their name – Bijelo Polje. This is also the meaning of the Turkish word Akovo for a town, once a famous station of the Dubrovnik caravans, which was called Nikolj-pazar. Of all the towns in northern Montenegro, Bijelo Polje has the most favorable geographical position. It is located at the crossroads of important roads: on the Belgrade-Bar railway, on the highway that leads from Belgrade to the sea, and there are also good connections to Pljevlja and Zabljak, along the Tara Canyon, towards Berane, Plav and Rozaje, and further along the Ibar Highway towards Serbia.
Archaeological research convincingly speaks of the existence of settlements in this area in the distant past. The Bijelo Polje region was inhabited as early as the Neolithic (10,000 to 3,000 years BC). In the village of Majstorovina near Bijelo Polje, a stone axe dating from the Neolithic was found. Remains of material culture were also found in the village of Bijedici, and they date back to the Bronze Age (3,000 to 1,000 years BC). Two axes of the so-called Adriatic type were also found in the village of Ostrelj. Based on the objects found in the town itself, we can claim that prehistoric settlements existed in the area of today's Bijelo Polje.
The city is known for several cultural and historical monuments. One of the most important is the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul from 1190, an endowment of Prince Miroslav of Hum, in which the famous Miroslav Gospel was written. Also worth mentioning are the Nikoljac Monastery (according to tradition, an endowment of King Milutin), the Gusmirovic Mosque (1741), the Nikoljac Bridge from 1938 and Church of Saint Nicholas in Podvrh (1606). The church is famous for its iconostasis, which received a prestigious award in Paris at an exhibition entitled "Art on the Soil of Yugoslavia from Prehistory to the Present." Near the church is the Dalovica Cave, pearl of Montenegro nature. Dalovica Cave consists of a large number of canals, corridors and halls that can be divided into several units according to their position and general morphological characteristics: "Canal with lakes" (characterized by a large number of lakes, both permanent (about 15) and occasional ( 20-30), and also stalactites and stalagmites of small dimensions), "Great Labyrinth", "Great Canal" and part of the cave in the continuation of the Great Canal which is separated siphons - "Channel behind the siphon".

Pljevlja is a city in the far north of Montenegro, bordered by forested and gentle mountains and dotted with the rivers Tara, Cehotina and Breznica. Due to its favorable geographical location, at the intersection of important old and new roads, the city of Pljevlja has changed its name, importance and conquerors throughout history while maintaining a recognizable city identity. The Illyrians, Romans, Slavs, Turks and Austrians who over the centuries conquered and snatched Pljevlja gave their seal to the rich historical and cultural heritage.
During the Ottoman Empire, Pljevlja was known as "Taslidža" as well as "little Constantinople". And the Imperial Vizier Husein Pasha Boljanic, a native of this region, made sure that there was something of that splendor. He gave the city a mosque, a tower, a clock tower, a caravanserai, a hamman and a bazaar. To this day, the Husein Pasha Mosque is considered one of the most beautiful sacred buildings of Islamic culture in the entire Balkans.
In addition to the mosque, one of the most significant cultural and historical monuments is the Monastery of the Holy Trinity.
The remains of two fortresses - towns from the 15th century, Koznik and Kukanj, as well as a significant number of stećaks - tombstones, testify to the medieval importance of this area.
Not far from the city center is one of the most beautiful city parks in Montenegro, and the first seedlings in the famous Milet Garden were planted by Austro-Hungarian soldiers. This landscaped green complex represents a kind of ecological oasis, abundant with rich and diverse vegetation, but also a sports and recreation complex, landscaped paths for walking and recreation, artificial lakes, sources of drinking water...
Only thirty kilometers from the city is Ljubišnja, the proud queen of the Dinaric mountains with its giant pine and spruce trees, unique in Europe, sources of drinking water and the legend of forbidden love from which it got its name. Equally attractive both in summer and winter, just like Kovac, Kosanica, the canyons of Cehotina and Draga, and especially the magnificent canyon of Tara bridged by the Great Bridge on Durdevica Tara.
In Pljevlja, nature was selfless towards man. Fishing, rafting, speleology, canyoning, horseback riding, cycling, hiking, mountaineering, climbing, paragliding, jeep tours, excursions, camping... these are some of the activities offered by the natural environment of the city.
